All of our rescues are spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on all vaccines prior to adoption. They will have been checked by a vet, and any problems that are considered a detriment to their health will be treated. Each rescue is placed in a loving foster home until they find a permanent home. We are a non-profit organization funded simply by donations. We ask that a donation of: Puppy through 3 years old: minimum donation $350; Adults 4 through 9 years old: minimum donation $250; Seniors 10 years old and over: minimum donation $100 be given for any rescue adopted. Please feel free to complete our adoption application so you may be considered when rescues are brought into our organization. NVSR normally has more dogs in foster than those listed here. We don't put a Sheltie on the web site until we have completed our evaluation of them and we often place dogs without putting them on the web site because we have the perfect adopter for them in our potential adopter files.

If you think you don't have time for a Sheltie because you work long hours, Callie's your girl. She has just enough Sheltie in her to look like one, with just a pinch of "something else" that makes her very laid back. She only needs one good daily walk to wear off her excess energy. Although she does know how to fetch a soft toy, most of the time she is happy just to follow you around the house and sit with you on the sofa with her head in your lap. Callie is happy to greet strangers and even occasional school-aged visitors (with proper supervision) but it seems she has always been an "only dog" and much prefers it that way. She is very accustomed to spending time alone and doesn't seem to mind it, but she is just as happy to have company, so long as you have no other pets.

My name is Katy and I am the happiest Sheltie that there ever was. My tail wags non-stop when I see people because I want them to snuggle with me and in return I give them lots of Sheltie kisses. I bark at other dogs when we go on walks, but only because I want to meet every dog in the neighborhood. I came into NVSR as a stray and I was pregnant. Eventually, I gave birth to two beautiful Sheltie puppies, and they have already found great homes. Now it is my turn to find a forever home. So . . . if you want a friend who will cheer you up and make you happy, I'm the one!

Name:

  Maizie

 Gender:

  Female

 Height/Weight:

  17" / 32 lbs

 Color:

  Blue Merle

Age:

  12 Years

 Comments:

Maizie is a sweet, active girl who insists that she is not really 12 years old. She loves to go for fast-paced walks, play soccer and tennis ball, and run around the yard to find those pesky squirrels. But she also likes to just sleep nearby while you work or relax. She is sweet-tempered and enjoys meeting people and dogs on walks, but she'd rather you not bring those dogs home with you. She has been someone's beloved pet-she knows sit, come, down, shake, and more. She can be somewhat bossy when other dogs are around, especially when she has food or her favorite toys, and she doesn't shy away from a fight. She has far more interest in playing with people than with other dogs (she mostly likes to get in on a bit of a chase), so she will be happiest in a one-dog household. We don't know how she does with cats, but she shows an intense interest in exotic birds. Maizie is negative for Heartworm.

Name:

Foxy Cleopatra

 Gender:

Female

 Height/Weight:

18"; 35 lbs

 Color:

Sable and white

Age:

4-5 Years

 Comments:

Foxy is a gentle, but shy, sheltie-collie mix who was rescued from a puppy mill, She is getting very comfortable with leash walking and loves long walks in the forest or on quiet trails. She is starting to learn some obedience, like come, heel, sit and down. She jumps into the rear of the minivan upon command and is a great car rider. Foxy came into rescue with her offspring. They have all been adopted, now it's Foxy's turn. She is looking for a quiet home with adults only or a family with older children, who can respect her need for tranquility. She will benefit from daily walks and a continuation of her socialization program, with a soft-spoken, but confident, owner whom she can trust. Prospective adopters must have a fenced-in yard. Please contact Collie Rescue, Inc. for an application and additional information.

Bo Bo Baggins is a 2 yr old sheltie who is just a sweet as could be. Really, he's just a perfect and precious little housepet - great with other playful dogs, loves attention, housetrained, etc. He's shy at first with new people but warms up quickly... then you can't stop him - he's exploring and curious. He's a portable little bundle of joy - take him wherever you go - he'll love it. One teeensy little detail: Bo Bo, though not on any medication, requires a prescription kidney diet food permanently for chronic kidney problems. Staying on this food prevents him from needing medication. And, thus, he would require a situation similar to a retired couple who is home more often than not... who can let him out frequently and keep him on a great schedule, which will allow him to have the maximum quality of life possible. He doesn't care for cats, and would probably be startled by the flailing movements of young children, so a two-dog, childless household would be PERFECT for this cute little punkin-boy.
