HISTORY

During the summer of 1999 there was a young male Sheltie in a kill shelter in Virginia. By the time word circulated via the Sheltie internet mailing list, he had been euthanized. Recognizing that there was no adequate organized Sheltie rescue in Virginia, Lynn Neumann and Elaine Wymer founded NVSR. Word spread , and by July 2000, NVSR had over 30 volunteers.

Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue consists of a small group of individuals who want to make sure that all needy Shelties find loving and caring forever homes. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and are involved with Shelties as breeders, competitors and pet owners.
