Meet NVSR at An Upcoming Event
Throughout the year, NVSR volunteers and our Shelties attend a few community events and festivals around Virginia to help support our rescue efforts and raise awareness for Shelties in need. You may find us at places like the Virginia Scottish Games in The Plains, the Scottish Walk in Alexandria, Creatures Great and Small in Scottsville, and more.
Whether you’re curious about adoption, interested in volunteering, or just want to say hello and show off your Sheltie and meet some of ours, we’d love to see you.

Railroad Ford Trail is an easy, 1.7 mile hike that blends the quiet
beauty of the water with a taste of Virginia history. The first half
follows the lake’s shoreline and the second half follows part of the narrow gauge railroad tracks used to transport ore before the
mines closed around 1920.
Bring a sack lunch and lawn chairs and we’ll enjoy lunch and each
others company beside the lake before heading home.

Remembering Our Shelties
Like all beloved pets, Shelties leave us much too soon. We have a page devoted to memories of NVSR Shelties who are no longer with us. If you have a tribute you’d like to add, send it to us in an email.
